Custom Electric Motors
Built for ATEX Zone 0
Fully bespoke electric motor design and manufacturing — engineered to your exact project specifications, designed to operate in Zone 0 explosive atmospheres, and optimized for maximum energy efficiency at competitive cost.
Why Our Motors
Three pillars that set our electric motors apart in the most demanding industrial and defense applications.
Designed for ATEX Zone 0
Zone 0 is the most demanding explosive atmosphere classification — environments where flammable gases, vapors, mists, or combustible dusts are present continuously. We engineer motors to operate in these conditions where most manufacturers don't even attempt to design. An exclusive technical capability.
100% Custom Engineering
No off-the-shelf compromises. Every motor starts from your project requirements: power range, torque curve, geometry, mounting interface, and thermal envelope. We design from scratch so the motor fits your system — not the other way around.
Cost-Effective & Energy Optimized
World-class engineering at a competitive price. Our streamlined design-to-manufacture process delivers motors that are energy-optimized from day one — reducing operating costs and increasing system reliability over the long term.
Our Motors
What is ATEX Zone 0?
ATEX (from French Appareils destinés à être utilisés en ATmosphères EXplosives) is the European regulation governing equipment and work environments at risk of explosion due to the presence of flammable gases, vapors, mists, or combustible dusts. It is divided into two main directives to ensure workplace safety against explosive atmospheres. The zone classification defines how frequently that atmosphere is present — Zone 0 is the most extreme.
Continuous Explosive Atmosphere
Flammable gases, vapors, mists, or combustible dusts are present continuously, for long periods, or frequently. Examples: inside fuel storage tanks, gas processing equipment, solvent reactors. This is the level our motors are engineered to handle.
Occasional Explosive Atmosphere
Explosive atmosphere is likely to occur periodically during normal operation. Examples: areas near venting points, pump rooms, loading facilities. Motors designed for Zone 0 also cover Zone 1 by definition.
Unlikely Explosive Atmosphere
Explosive atmosphere is not likely to occur in normal operation, and if it does, only infrequently and briefly. Examples: storage rooms, tank farms with good ventilation.
Why does Zone 0 matter? Engineering a motor to operate in Zone 0 requires mastery of thermal management, electrostatic discharge control, enclosure integrity, and failure mode analysis under continuously hazardous conditions. Very few manufacturers take on this challenge. San Jorge Tecnológicas has developed the engineering capability to design motors for this highest-demand level — a decisive competitive advantage for your most critical projects.
Key Application Areas
Oil & Gas
Refineries, storage, pumping stations, and processing facilities where flammable gases are present.
Defense & Military
Field systems, unmanned vehicles, and specialized equipment deployed in hazardous operational environments.
Mining
Underground mining environments where methane and coal dust create continuous explosive atmosphere conditions.
Chemical Industry
Reactors, solvent processing, and production lines where volatile compounds are handled continuously.
Offshore Platforms
Marine and offshore installations requiring both ATEX compliance and resilience to harsh environmental conditions.
Pharmaceutical
Solvent-heavy manufacturing and clean-room environments where precise, safe motor operation is non-negotiable.
